Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

LR date - how soon can you leave the company once LR is notified on Oct. 7?

When LR is notified on Oct. 7th, let's say I want to elect Optional Choice Package right away. How soon can I leave the company? I am wondering what should be the starting date for the next job (if I get a job).

The only thing I would offer is a warning.

Make sure you have signed your agreement and confirm you are no longer an employee before you start another job. If you are not careful how you do it you could lose the Cisco money (you quit rather than being laid off)

No negotiation needed. The second you are notified you no longer have any obligation to Cisco. The only negotiation is if they want you to continue doing anything after negotiation. Then you can ask for additional severance, additional credit toward time served etc.

Once you have been notified that your job is no more, that's the end of your job duties. You can look for another role within cisco for 30 days (a joke) or just chill out for the rest of that 30 days. So technically you can start your other gig the next day after you've been given the LR boot.

It is negotiable with your HR/ Manager. It can be immediately
