11 laid off today. Mostly Legacy EMC. Totally blindsided us and it was clearly about saving money. Given one week notice and no advance opportunity to look within the company for other roles. My reviews have been stellar every year since the merger. People who are left on the team are lower pay low performers.

Are you serious?
That verbiage states this-
You can never work for Dell Technologies again. If you apply and a hiring manager really wants you on board it would still need to be approved by a Sr VP.
For what reason would they do this?
Yup over 50 and around 20+ years. Cut today.
I and a few other long term legacy EMC people that I know of got cut today. All top performers every year, no slackers, all super busy hard workers. It will be nice not routinely working 12 hour days any longer.
Legacy Dell employees on average make less than legacy EMC employees. Dell has been struggling since the merger to align compensation so that it wasn't so lopsided. It wouldn't surprise me to hear that EMC people were cut purely for cost savings instead of raising legacy Dell people up...
In the paperwork which comes from HR that outlines your total severance pay and such, there is verbiage in that document that states:
You can never work for Dell Technologies again. If you apply and a hiring manager really wants you on board it would still need to be approved by a Sr VP.
If you get riffed consider it a godsend and a blessing, Dell is not a company I would ever want to be associated with again. Managers/Directors all s—. Just move on, you'll find it was the best thing that ever happened to you.
Sorry to all that et layed-off . I left the company after 17 years of service and always received great reviews while I was there. I tried many times to get back in applying for positions that I have done in the past without any problems. I never able to get back in ....I agree that there is something goping on when you apply and they see your age and if you ever worked for EMC....I am very happy now working for another company.
I wonder if they're targeting older folks that have been around awhile..even though other posts seem to allude to the fact that they're targeting entire groups.
I left last year on my own. I spend 2 decades and I was a Top Perforner. I felt like I was not wanted anymore. I guess you get old and you are not needed even if you perform well. Good Luck to the ones behind, eventually you will get old.
Jeff Clarke just announced layoffs in our internal earnings call. "Small percentage", no other details
I am on the quarterly review. CEO says there will be " A small amount" of employees will be laid off. ..new layoffs.
Lay-off plans just announced in the corporate town hall.
Okay, you here now.....tells us everything you know about future layoffs?
HR blindsided by layoffs. Wow, like that never happens for other people.
I'm sorry buit after how the HR department treated me when my position was made 'Redundant' I have very little sympathy. As they say what goes around comes around. Also 'You reap what you sow'
Was there any kind of package?
And I bet they are all not only Legacy-EMC, but also located in the US. All top performers, guaranteed.
Sorry for your news. My experience has been that frequently top performers are laid off and lower performers are left. Sometimes it's politics; I can't account for other times. It is annoying, but you'll be better off in the end at another company. Often "it's the best thing that ever happened though I didn't know it at the time."
Where and what Dept?
Are the lowered pay employees that remain younger? Maybe you have an age descrimination lawsuit.
