Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Layoffs hopefully(!!) on-hold for at least a couple weeks??

Just guessing (full disclosure, I have absolutely no knowledge to speak with any authority here), but I'd assume that any plans to lay anyone off in the next few weeks have probably been put on hold what with all that we're going through right now (as if the pandemic / job market weren't enough - but as we all know, these weren't). As heartless as these layoffs are already right now, I gotta believe that even our current "leadership" isn't so heartless as to lay anyone off as we're running from our homes...?

Agreed, this is truly agonizing... without a doubt the most mismanaged "project" (?) I've ever had the displeasure and misfortune to bear witness to.

Really, to hell with the whole thing. As far as I am concerned, layoffs cannot come soon enough. Just get it over with already.

Hearing small layoffs happening this week, but the big numbers will happen in the next two weeks. Anyone hearing the same?

More likely do it now under the cover of everything else going on.

The coronavirus and massive global economic distress haven’t stopped the layoff planning but sure the fires will. Not. Nike is a company.

OP...that was cute...thanks for the laugh. The heartless will remain heartless....always. Don't count of any empathy from leadership (I laugh every time I use that term in reference to Nike's decision-makers) LOL

PERHAPS when ELT engaged the VP’s after announcing the CDA (eg category disruption, Men’s, Women’s, Kids) they realized how OVER simplified the entire approach was that it doesn’t even make sense — likely b.c. they hadn’t engaged the right individuals. Too late, it was announced to not only the company but the globe, so now they need to make it work and back into it. That could explain some delays ???

Think of product; the Running Team aligns men’s and women’s for consistent product, materiality, form. Now we have double the alignment; women’s (running), and men’s (running). The function of the shoe (running) doesn’t go away. Multiple that by every part of the company, we all function similarly.

Waiting for answers...

If anything they will be delayed by failure of upper mgmt to finish the reorg on time.

Hahahahaha that's hilarious OP. Thanks, I needed a laugh.

If I was a betting man, I'd wager that layoffs are full speed ahead. Now if you'll excuse me I need to finish packing my evacuation kit in case these wildfires get any closer to my home. Cripes what a horrible freaking year. Stay safe everyone.

If the CDA (C-suiteDontgiveAfu*k) wasn't enough to show you how much Nike cares about their employees – I hate to say it but .. your as blind as the rest of the sheep.

Every man/womxm for themselves these days..
