Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

Sending certified threatening letters about fmla use.

if its not enough that they can't get people to come back to work that they furloughed. They now are focused on running off the ones they do have. How do you give a advanced notice for a flare-up? If you call and mark off K your giving them the noticed that your not working. Its there fault they furloughed everyone and they will not come back. The Surface Transportation Board has already sent a letter to all the class one railroads because they are worried about if they have infrastructure to maintain things after things go back to normal after covid. They lie and say we have a 60% return from furlough rate. Idk where at but sure not anywhere around here.

My advice is to play it for all its worth. Take off as many days as possible under the guise of family leave.

Hopefully they start getting rid of people who abuse this. Start giving the hard workers move-ups

The whole "being off on weekends helps production" is false and always has been. Are the guys that currently have weekend jobs more productive than the others, NO. Every single person was told when they got hired that it would be c-appy. They didn't sugarcoat it but yall seem to forget that you signed up for it. Just go work somewhere else and be happy.

Ever notice the major money spending decisions on the yard/shop/locomotive level that blow up in their face. It seems nobody ever seems to be held accountable but they wanna fire somebody for wearing the wrong work boots? It’s comical. Millions spent on test tracks, buildings and new locomotives that they park and rob parts from. The people making those calls seem to never be disciplined.

I’m surprised it took this long for them to try some c-ap with FMLA. All they would have to do with the limited workforce they have left in mechanical is set every job to F/S S/S S/M off and they wouldn’t have no where near the amount of mark offs and have a happier workforce. For some reason that I could never figure out is they want their employees miserable which in the end costs them productivity. As bad as I hate to admit it they would end up needing less people too if they did that. Happier employees = More production. It just shows you the ones pushing those buttons don’t know how to really do more with less which is their goal.
