Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

VPs and more VPs

That useless VP of 'M'ud'L'iners at the tower is another example of how bad this company is top heavy. The guy does nothing but hoot and holler about nothing when he is not sleeping in his office. Brings absolutely nothing to the table. Did notice his former credit girl was let go, maybe that's why he's always in a bad mood but we are still stacked with unexperienced, unmotivated and unintelligent VPs across the board.

Unfortunately all the producers were let go and lack of leadership is showing. Just watch how bad this quarter bookings will be.....it will probably be a record.

Re the last post from 3 directors to 7 Hmmmm I think I worked in that Division as well. We went from a Sales and Marketing Director, Engineering Director and Finance Director
to
Sales Director, Engineering Director, Aftermarket Director, Product Line Director, Manufacturing Director and Finance Director

And the revenue is about 35% of what it used to be and they still all have jobs except the VP who was put out to pasture and then replaced

If you consider that each VP has at least 1 director report that’s at least another 100 highly paid people. When I say at least, I mean there is seriously more than this, I worked for a VP who changed things around so that he was more important. He changed from 3 Directors to 7, how crazy is that!

I wouldn’t worry about 1 VP.

Before I was was laid-off, I counted 100 VPs plus Directors.

Given global headcount at the time, there’s no excuse for that much top heavy management.

There’s a few people I know that have worked for the company in many businesses units and corporate and who think that they are buying their time to see what they can sell off in the future.

The company was never properly consolidated, and it’s a little too late to do so. If they think otherwise, they are being told incorrect information from their direct report VPs.

NOV is full of VP’s that are worthless. They just keep moving them around to paint them into a safe corner.

Mud Liners & Torque Minis are the worst products at the company. Both products were from the now discontinued line of the Papichapy S—er Rod Group. Useless and they need to go to. Hopefully FroggerMan will figure it out. LOL

Agreed that guy ML is a complete waste of 2- 3 salaries. Now they got him involved in other stuff to keep him busy. Most meetings are ground to a halt in his presence with a 'what does this mean?' and 'whats going on here?'....smh

If you a shareholder you have the right to a vote of no confidence.
I recall during the last oil crash we employed made up nearly 30 VP’’s and Director

I didn’t get a mention for my promotion.

Praise those at the top no need to do so for the workers that keep the top boys luxury
