Jenks

what’s the latest news on the cluster£uck that is jenks shop???? Hear they had their yearly auction wonder if they made enough money to offset the OTR increase to keep paying their “hard working” shareholders and upper management?

Shaw at nlr ramp is the worlds worst at making us manager's run junk. Only fix what it's here for i need my bonus screw the employee. I only care about myself. Can't wait till the day they finally open their eyes and send that guy on his way. He was better as a craftsmen he totally s—s as a leader of a shop.

  1. O.S. Managers always sit in their heated and cooled dry office and blaming those that actually try to make this cluster function.

4uvs, thank you for the most truthful correct post ever describing how this place operates. It is a crying shame that it will probably by deleted.

You mfers that say the craftsmen are to blame are sadly mistaken. When you find something wrong with the locomotive, that isn't an easy quick fix (everyone fixes the quick fixes without issue) you inform management that whatever the issue is needs to be fixed and they won't give you the time to fix it, nope is what we we were told, its not here to fix that. One manager even told us he would send the unit out without trucks under it if he could just to make the schedule. That's how ridiculous it was. Unit had to move had to go has to be out we do not fix any other issues other than what it was there for. The f—ng frame would be cracked or the engine spewing oil, or a bad turbo, etc. Etc., but if the unit was there for just a gen swap then thats all it would get, a gen swap. Knowing it was f'ed up. The managers only want to make the numbers, then if it fails after it leaves then they blame the craftsmen like they are on here doing. It didn't matter they were going to move the unit if it was done or not. No extra work was going to be done. And to the mfer that said the craftsmen putting in all the extra tasks, you obviously don't understand what that place does. All those tasks that were being added were tasks that they were already doing and had been doing, and were required to do. The tasks were added because it was work that was already being done b4 they even came up with the computer c-ap. Craftsmen were told to add the tasks to show the work they were preforming that was required for the process. Because like many of you have stated on here management don't know anything about a locomotive or what it requires to fix it. For example, when you get a task that the computer says takes 15 mins to preform, but in order to preform that task you have to remove or disconnect or unbolt 10 other things to change or fix that one thing, but none of those other things are in the computer and it takes 3 or 4 hrs or a shift to undo and redo or put all that back together, then mfers want to know why you only signed off 15mins of work, well..... jacka$$ all this other s**t has to be done to do that, but as you are telling that manager that you see a look in his face like a deer in headlights look. Yeah you all know the look I'm talking about. Cause he don't have one clue what you are talking about.

Zero accountability from craft. You shouldn’t have to be babysat. Do your job, you’re supposed to be adults.

Management is mostly to blame. If a craftsman intentionally fails to do his job that’s wrong but rare. Management should be looking and verifying each step of a process. But from my observation all our management wants is the sign off. So they can then say to their superior see it’s done. I’ve worked in other jobs where there are proper checks and balances and this mess didn’t happen. It’s a total lack of management experience.

The guys wrote up so much misc BS up that they easily could fix and in the end that shop went from 215 people in 2015 to 30 in late 2019. Others tried to tell them this would become their ultimate demise, but they believed they were “needed” and we all know how this sadly ended.

I agree that yes, the management is to partly blame. The craftsman are to blame also. I've seen it first hand. Instead of fixing a defective issue at the service track, alot of machinist will write it up then say i can't fix it. Then cry because they are running it to move a train. Its the same at the ramp, it has this problem and the machinist will complain instead of fixing the problem. It's not just management its the craftsman fault also.

Same thing happens at the Ramp in NLR the managers and the director say send it and not fix it right. It's not about reliability and we all know it its all about numbers and their bonuses they make off of the numbers like i said none of them could run a McDonald's. They truly are worthless managers and that includes All of them. Service track is the same way. Even federal defects they send them to says it takes to long to fix send it. UP problem isn't the employees It's their management and directors very p i s s poor decisions.

The problem is that when you find other c-ap wrong with the unit that wasn't originally planned in the overhaul process, the managers don't want to fix it. Send it send it send it, they have to make the numbers out the door. You try to tell them, hey I noticed that this needs fixed its fked up, and they won't allow it to be fixed. Gotta move it has to go, gotta make the numbers, f—ng managers know its fked up, you tell them, you show them, doesn't matter, send it send it send it. They have to make the numbers. And another thing they do is the managers want you to throw a bandaid on an exit hole from a 50 cal. If you know what I mean, can't count how many times I've heard them say "as long as it works when it leaves here, who cares if it breaks 10 miles down the tracks" its bull mess and we the craftsmen know it. If the unit is there because this is broke, go ahead and fix the other broken sh*t as well, nope gotta send it, "its not here to fix that its only here for a gen swap" or this or that" thats why units still have problems after they leave the shop, because the manager has has to make his numbers get that feather in his cap.

Recalled being asked to sign letter of excellence. Suggesting that subpar performance is not a result of bad management but bad workers. I disagree. Management should know what is right and it shouldn’t move on if it’s not right. I have no problem with correcting workers, including discipline if necessary. But if it hits the rails and fails it’s management’s fault period.
