As those of us who have been here through multiple layoffs and re-orgs know It’s best to save your time trying to rationalize anything Nike ELT is going to be doing over the next 6 to 18 months. In the meantime you’ll probably see two or three new strategy decks cooked up without a single thing changing in the office. You'll make up for the pointlessnes of the daily dilemas with lattes and trips to the employee store and sharing gripes over lunch... Oh COVID Ooops I forgot, you'll sit at home and ponder the pointlessness. With a new CEO it will probably take even longer this time for things to fall somewhat back into order, but eventually this forum will quiet as people move on, only to spring back to life sometime in 2023. In the meantime you’ll show up and do your best to cling to your income and health insurance but you already know regardless of band level or CFE rating you're inevitably just an employee number and chances aren't great that your boss has gone out of their way to keep you intact or move along your career as they worry about their own booties. Also as a side note, If you think more than 40-50% of the company is held accountable to the CFE process you’re smoking your kicks. Nike’s a great company with great people but a horrible HR org that daily undermines it's true potential. Hardest part to watch as a dedicated employee is the layer of fog all the VP’s have left over the EL, leaves them blinded as to how to actually clean out the rot. My advice is call it like you see it, be brutally honest and don't drink the kool aid. Stay strong fellow worker bees and frick off you HR drones if you're reading, you never do the right thing.

Though I’m not sure of the optics...
I’ll support that.
80% of tasks in HR can be automated but the ladies are so mind numbingly stupid they will not see it. It’s just a losing battle trying to explain anything to the HR function. The goal should be escape while you can .
If anyone does lose their job and wants it back, if 2017 is any indication, they’ll be hiring for your position as an ETW shortly and might even reach out to you to fill the role!
Less employees = less HR!
Honestly, most of current HR's tasks can be automated.
No one has mentioned the lavish campus expansion the past few years. Holy smoke. It is over the top. In a post-COVID world, does it matter to the top talent NIKE may attract, or anyone left after the layoffs, just how luxurious the ELT's palaces are? It really is unbelievable how Phil let HS-Agent Orange go absolutely nuts with the scale and design of the expansion. Lord, what an ego trip. I heard the lawsuits from contractors already suing the company for trying to stiff them, screw them, and not pay them, numbers in the dozens. The individual who told me this, said there are still lawsuits going from almost every single campus expansion going back 30 years. All because of Agent Orange's pride and greed.
the company got fat. why are you surprised by these layoffs. don't need anyone selling into JCP anymore! such is life.
Nike only listens to Wall St. now. Isn't it kinda odd that through all this b*st Nike's stock price is doing fine? It's a big club and you are not a part of it.
Having worked in the HR org, I know it has the most fake and pretentious ladies and dudes. It is unbelievable. Glad I left few months back. Nike is no longer the same place it used to be.
Not only does HR have over paid staff, they are completely incompetent and nothing can get done in any meaningful amount of time.
Nailed it. Well said.
Here's a fact.
HR has more S bands per capita than any other function. Those that hand out the coveted band levels take care of themselves first. After all of these deep cuts, you can only hope the ELT takes a hard look at the self important, top heavy HR org.
