Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Push yourself always

Used to work for a competitor and I was laid off close to my 15 year mark.

I liked working there, it was a great place. It was also however like a warm blanket for a long nap. Do not ever get complacent at work.

You may think you are super well positioned and a high-value employee – yet, do not count on it. Two quarters earlier from my layoff, I received a fairly large company award. Two quarters later I was laid off.

I don't regret the time I spent at here at all, but I would advise everyone to not underestimate that you can easily be laid off… Just a few short months after even your best performance… I was amazed at the opportunities and awesome jobs out there. However, do not get too comfortable as complacency will cost you in the long run...

If you do remain to be up-to-speed and maintain your technical/business relevancy, everything will be just fine. Yet, if you spend your time not pushing yourself, you will pay for it later. So, my two cents: use your time wisely your time for your advantage. Push yourself always, be your best...

These are exciting and transformative times . Those who survive these layoffs will have no trust in this company and will always be looking over their shoulder. Getting rid of Frontline adjusters will be a big mistake when there’s increased policies being written because of slashed premium rates in the next year .

To OP, that sounds uplifting, however, the last Auto Tech layoff 3 years ago was a "murderous ax." It didn't matter what your tenure, performance, etc. If you were a DI Tech, you were simply cut. Lost some bad people and lost some good ones as well.

I am going to push myself to my desk to show up and that's it. I'm going to push myself about as hard as Allstate is pushing these layoffs. They know nothing, I know nothing. I am going to do enough not to get behind. My morale is under the ground. We are not in good hands! I did save 30% by switching my car insurance to Geico!

Why push yourself for a company run by greedy heartless men?
The harder I work, the more they could make??
If they treat employees like dirt, why would anyone expect 100%.
Allstate is/has proven to be the cheapest paying and most demanding in the insurance business.
