Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Since 2017, I’ve seen..

  • 2 org-wide restructures
  • 2 division-wide reorgs
  • Team renames, formations, accountabilities etc.(each year for the last 5 hrs)

Total sh– show. But if you want to continue to pay me $210k, Im down. And if not and my time is up this time around, thank you and I’ll go bop somewhere else.

I think @1zex is a nice person responding to the original post (@OP+16bcaUKe) in such a way, which influenced how I was going to respond. Seriously though, @OP+16bcaUKe, please show some respect and look up the definition of empathy. Some people who will be laid off will not have the resources you have to survive comfortably for few month or even a year. Go talk to your fellow Sr. Directors about your "struggles" just please go away.

@1zex: likely works half days and plays golf during those days. There are so many Sr. Directors and not so much work to go around.

This is such a weird flex. There are going to be hundreds, if not thousands, of lower level colleagues laid off. People who are unlikely to have any meaningful severance. People who might not be able to find a job during this recession. People who might not be able to pay rent, buy groceries, or afford healthcare during a pandemic. Literal lives in the balance. Have some empathy, and if in a leadership position, do something to improve the situation. Or just find a different venue to vent.

@OP+16bcaUKe given the salary you have mentioned (depending if you included PSP and Stock award in that or not) I would say you are either a Director or Sr. Director. Not the point though. The point is: knowing how bad things really are at Nike, besides the salary, why are sticking around? Are you not stressed out? How do you not want to scream daily? How do you put up with so much sh–? How do put up with so many stupid people who truly add no value? I am struggling to to show up well these days?
