With COVID, some don’t even get a 7:30 am meeting planner, just a phone call from two levels up reading you a scripted message. Hard pill to swallow when it happens to both spouses. Once gold badges were seen as knowledge and worn with pride, now they are targets and seen as countdown timers. My heart is broken for so many great people.

Yeah I mean it's common knowledge that if you have a gold badge you're on borrowed time. People who get "too expensive" get "restructured" and backfilled with new hires with dramatically less experience and fewer skills, but who are much cheaper, or their workload gets shifted onto others for a tiny raise (if any). This is the culture being fostered at the Walmart Home Office. If you work their, get your training/experience on their dime for a couple years then GTFO before you get an 8am planner on your calendar from HR.

There does seem to be a pattern of long term 3 from my team all over 25 yrs. All told it was not a performance issue. Very sad day

Anyone know the time frame this is happening in? Seems like first day of layoffs was yesterday, thinking the bulk of it could be this week

"We lost some really good long term associates" – watch out. I think we will be hearing this a lot. How convenient to target long term associates with solid benefits and decent pay rates (unlike the newer and younger folks). This is definitely a thinning of the herd for long term employees.
