I read earlier that Hertz will have to sell 200,000 cars by the end of 2020. 1) Is this even possible? 2) What happens if they fall short 3) What will happen to DTG?
A concerned employee...

Yes, Hertz will make it.
I can't live off of just hourly. Commission needs to come back. If I get an $500 upgrade for the company I get $5 of it. I think fuel service charges are going to be my new bread 'n butter.

No!
If Hertz had a chance to survive do you think Kathy would have left? Even she saw the wrtiting on the wall and knew it was time to jmp ship. The courts now run Hertz. They tell them how much to spend and what to do. Hertz is making zero financial decisions at this point.
Merger? Buyout? Who would want to take on or ally themselves with a business possessing a $19-24B debt burden? Selling off fleet will only cover 5-6% of this debt at best The sale of HLE, DTG, or Donlen won't help much either. Less than $1B current liquidity divided by $100M weekly operational costs equals finite life span. Inept management with a 95% reduced revenue stream for the foreseeable future doesn't bode well for the company either. Even a savvy investor like Carl Icahn took his lumps and bailed. It will be a miracle if the company survives past year's end.
Not merger, buyout. If we scale down small enough we could have be an attractive buyout option.
What merger
Production of new cars will fall short which is what’s driving up the demand for both used cars as well as price. This is where us having a lot of supply and little demand will benefit.
From what I understand Hertz has sold a fair amount of vehicles already so we will continue to sell. Be afraid if we have to sell more cars than this, than a merger may be a real thing
Selling cars part is possible and most likely they sell that many every yr
Also I do think hertz be fine.
However u have right be concerned. The travel industry won't be back to at least apr 2021. No job is safe and since DTG they could easily sell it off to generate revenue.
Best advice save every penny and start looking for another job.
Absolutely. Once the merger/strategic partnership is finalized everything will settle down/stabilize.
Take care
