Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Need help! Possible job change

So I’m not your typical lay-off board user. I don’t think Verizon is out out to get me. They are FAR from perfect, so I’m not totally blind. But considering my other options Verizon isn’t a bad choice

That being said. I’m currently a GM. My store does fairly well in regardless to commission, despite the sh– terrible quota. I don’t spew the company line, though I know how to do my job and what’s expected of me. I’ve been considering jumping to tele sales sup for A. Change of pace B. This touchless/appointment bs C. I don’t even know if my store will be a thing in a year.

Do any of you have experience in telesales? Know telesales sup? It’s it I welcome any constructive feedback.

Thanks in advance

I would leave if you can. Retail will become increasingly demanding as the timeline stretches. Telesales may s— too, but at least you can do it in the comfort of your own home. I’ve been redeployed for a while, and once you get the flow of things, it’s not so bad.

Take advantage of the culture of this company! Since you're a store manager in retail, start posting for corporate positions in the company? Even after the layoffs they have layers and layers of jobs in consulting, supply chain etc etc, i have always said in the past ^ how did that guy get that job with no experience ^?The only experience they had was cellular sales, micromanaging and retail management, usually their first jobs out of college. Also.if you know someone in corporate reach out to them and see if there are job openings on their team? If you have a college degree go for it ! Its has been the culture of this culture to hire store mangers not necessarily qualified for that position. Remember the old saying! Its not what you know its who you know!( ( A rep with same or better experience and qualifications will never get the same job)

Telesales can't save you. The goal long before Corona was to convert corporate stores to indirect and outsource the call centers. Call centers are gone and its work from home now. Only a matter of time before WFH is sold off/outsourced.
