Severance and Unemployment Claims

Does anyone remember if in our Severance package it did not allow us to take the severance and also file for unemployment? I was paid my severance the week before last. So, if I go to file unemployment today for last week I either have to claim last week or file an initial claim. Not sure what to do at this point. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks

I am TX resident. I reported it on my flaim yesterday and got my full amt of benefits today. They might factor it in on my next payment request...but I dont know.

Take the severance no matter what. Depends on the state how it affects your benefits.

In Pa...the weekly questions are vague and I had to call Uc office and explain pto payout for the filed week. While I was on the phone I also told the representative the amount of a upcoming severance payment and he recorded the information to my file. Each state is different and there is a maximum severance pay out number in Pa. If you exceed that number then it could affect your Uc benefits...not sure how...since I did not exceed the max. If you have a claim open, then call your UC office...chances are good that you are going to have to call and explain after you file your weekly claim for last week. You are speaking of a initial claim...which is indicative of not having a claim open. Re opening a claim is not the same as initial. Be proactive because state Uc representatives are busy and probably won't have time to call you.
