Reliability

Reliability started last week. We are now recieving a lot of alerts for clocking in early or out early. Does anyone know the new window of minutes? Before it used to be 10 minutes.

We used to be able to clock in 10 minutes early but now it is only 5 minutes early. We used to be able to clock out 10 minutes early, and I think that is still the same though a couple of people in my store have said they’re getting an alert when they clock out 10 minutes early. My manager said not to do it more than 5 minutes early. As far as clocking in later than your scheduled time, you used to have 9 minutes leeway, but I don’t know if that has changed.

Learn to math. You said: Set this example at 10 employees clock early per store at 680 stores. Clocking 7 minutes early = 70 minutes x 680 stores = 47,680 minutes. Let's say the wage on average is $10/hour just for example. 47,680x$10= $476,800.

You can’t multiply 47680 minutes times $10 per hour. You must convert your minutes to hours! 47680/60 is 795 hours. 795 times 10 is $7950.
Just saying.

I understand the extra clock ins across the country being a very large amount of money. However why do they still stay open late when they are the only store in the malls doing that and NO one is shopping.

A company with a massive number of hourly employees can be hit wit unexpected payroll expenses if people clock in early or out late, even just 7 minutes makes a huge impact.
Set this example at 10 employees clock early per store at 680 stores. Clocking 7 minutes early = 70 minutes x 680 stores = 47,680 minutes. Let's say the wage on average is $10/hour just for example.
47,680x$10= $476,800 That does for ONE EARLY CLOCKING by 7 minutes. Now in some cases that may throw the computation into overtime wage dependent upon state/local regulations where over 8 hours is overtime or over 40 hours is overtime.
With the overtime calculation the pay is $717,900. If that happened for a full week then the payout would be $5.025 million!
So you can see the importance of a company having a strict clocking policy.
Also you choose to work for the company and therefore agree to abide by their rules if you like them or not. If you don't like to rules move on to a company that will allow you to go into work and leave work whenever you want.

Why do you think the company is going under? It's stupid policies like these implemented by incompetent people.

But if you clock in 9 minutes early it still hits you with a reliability notification. No one at my store can seem to tell me the exact grace period.

Totally ridiculous to implement reliability at this point. There are few customers shopping in the stores and I really doubt that there are that many employees taking advantage. This is just another way to control employees in this very difficult time. It breeds more ill will and adds to what is already a very toxic environment. As a support team member who loved the 5am to 2pm schedule this 8-5 is awful enough without adding this insult to injury.

It remains the same as before Covid. Reliability had to be reinstituted since colleagues were taking a lot of license with the lack of accountability in that area. It was something we discussed in leadership about 3-4 weeks into stores reopening.
