Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

The Truth

Most people at Broadcom like to complain

Reality is all other tech companies work from home , why can’t Broadcom ??

Truth is Broadcom employers we come from dying companies like CA. We were lazy, not motivated. Least talented individuals in the industry. CA had to beg people to even interview from 4th rate foreign schools. CA had to resort to lower educated L visa to fill spots. From cheating diploma mill schools in India

Broadcom knows this and understands CA employees working from home are CA employees watching Netflix

Broadcom employees have zero other opinions. Broadcom also knows this. Contrast this with several other companies saying “100% work from home, take whatever office equipment you need oh and here is cash to buy things you need”

Broadcom treats us like garbage because we are the tech industry garbage. We can’t go anywhere. No other employer sees value in our talent. The only value we serve is knowing all the legacy parts of old dying software. Once it has been milked Broadcom will take out the garbage

Resting and vesting. Good luck

@8osn+16ocfhJZ people in management that reasonable when we were Symantec are now difficult to work with. I think it comes from goals are set by their leadership. Where there used to be collaboration between orgs to solve problems I started hearing that people who were VPs or directors at Symantec that they couldn't help with X because it wasn't their responsibility, even though they or their team were the best people to perform a task.

This is the first acquisition I have been through so I wasn't expecting the new culture to to make such a significant negative impact the behavior of those I have known for a long time.

There are still some people in management who making significant efforts to do the right thing, but they are facing significant challenges.

@OP+16ocfhJZ not that the place was ever nirvana, but when i left last year i could sense how nasty the VP's and certain directors had become. i've worked at places with decent equity plans but between the caliber of exec talent they have (not very strong generally speaking) and the much better equity they're getting the behavior there is terrible. in the end it's marginally competent execs getting very well comped creating a caustic culture. the few friends left there are dealing with a lot of c-ap. every other week i'm talking to them just to maintain their sanity.

@4wxi+16ocfhJZ it may be true that there are some lazy people from Symantec, but its equally true that Symantec people are leaving out of frustration from trying to work with people who came from CA, but that's probably due to Broadcom culture which seems to encourage blaming others instead of taking responsibility for things, especially when problems span multiple orgs.

@3kfa+16ocfhJZ

Not only are Symantec guys lazy, they can’t code. I swear their software runs at O(n!) time complexity.

I left after 1 1/2y after the CA acquisition. Glad that I did. No regrets about leaving. Everyone has its price - I took some shares during the time and dropped almost half a million USD in RSUs. I don’t give a sh– about that money - I prefer the freedom and the opportunity to work for a really market leading company that threats their clients and employees in a total different (positive) way! The loss of the RSUs are easily compensated over the next 4-6y in my current company. So stop seeing the RAUs as golden handcuffs ;-) Also other companies have great packages and offer RSUs and if you don’t take the next best job (and your are talented and motivated) you will be surprised what other companies have to offer!

  1. s: If you thing CA people are lazy you have not yet worked with the Symantec guys :-)))))

I left in my first month as Broadcom employee and found an extremely lucrative position at another company. I don't think I am trash, nor do I believe I was trash then. You are a troll, plain and simple.

I can‘t agree to this. This does not apply to every product / division.
Also I have the impression that many trolls and maybe HR are pushing their agenda here...
