Six-year Oracle veteran Clay Magouyrk is the new executive vice president in charge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, based in Seattle, reporting to co-founder Larry Ellison, executive chairman and chief technology officer.

He didn't have any management background in AWS , before he joined oracle , he is only an developer . But because he is from AWS, how could he be promoted so quickly. OCI is dying.
LE is so senile that he thinks promoting an aspie kid who still lives in his mom's basement and gets dressed by her every morning will make OCI "cool." Because in his Viagra-and-spray-tan-rotted brain, wearing hoodies to work as an adult is the definition of cool, and enterprise cloud customers don't want products that do things such as actually work or compete cost-effectively, they just want them to be cool. The dregs and rejects from AWS now running OCI will pick its carcass clean before ORCL is sold off for pennies on the dollar.
God help everyone at OCI. It's all over but the paperwork.
There is no doubt that Clay is a bright guy, but he is also ruthless and uncompromising to anyone who doesn't agree with him. Most of the development leaders in OCI that I know only kowtow to him out of fear for their jobs, rather than out of respect. Remember 'don't be a jerk' anyone? I think Don J put that in there to remind Clay that it isn't all about him.... Sadly that got lost in all the hubris. What you realise when you're outside of Oracle is that no one talks about Oracle. So the fact that he's running the show is barely news-worthy.

Great, Clay comes on a company wide Zoom in a hoodie and tries to be a Mark Zuckerberg. He rambles on about this and that and gives the perception that he is a tech dork not use to dealing with humans. This ought to go well =)
"It is what it is" sounds like the most impotent attitude EVER. Using it as a means of justifying your continued servitude to a company that doesn't respect valid innovation says as much about them as it does about you, IMO.

I bet Larry and Safra have a bet, like the two old guys in Trading Places. One of them bet the other that they could pick a random aspie developer, put him in a suit, and make him EVP of the whole cloud org.
To be fair and honest we lost a lot of senior IT when Mark Hurd passed away and Mark Sunday retired. It seemed like everyone upstairs was heading for the door. over the last 3 months we switched organizations a number of times. all of Oracle IT is now under OCI. Even the new CIO reports to Clay. Which seemed a surprise to me. There is still a lot of confusion going around and shuffling of leadership. It is what it is. Clay is young and really bright, that is a fact.
So does Clay reports to DJ now?
