Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

XBS Furlough

I too was furloughed In May. Can't contact HR by phone. No number provided!!! Only email. I just love sitting around scratching my gonads while in limbo! Still employed, but not really! I wish they would just let us know if we are still employed, so I can go look for work elsewhere. T

Absolutely. It's going to be far easier to find a job while you are still technically employed. Companies don't like gaps in your resume.

I'm a direct production technician. I've been with Xerox five years. I'm not furloughed.

I took a pre employment d–g test today for my new employeer. I asked the lady how many of these she does a day. About 20 she says..from all different companies.

I'm making more where I am going. The skills you have as Xerox Tech will allow you to repair medical equipment, fab equipment, all sorts of industrial equipment. Well paid jobs that are in high demand.

My first interview was at major chip manufacturer to work in a clean room environment. I didn't get the job. I then watched some YouTube self help interview advice and practiced answering interview questions in the mirror. Next interview was for an even bigger company with huge revenue growth and I was offered a job.

Don't feel discouraged if no one is inviting you for interviews. Look at YouTube for resume help. If no one is biting, change the format. Don't use bullet points for your skills. It looks like every other resume to the recruiter/hiring manager.

@itt May have been too “polite” stating their obvious but is correct in the assumption you are likely not going back.
It’s not you or the actual need for you- you are definitely needed- it’s the decision of the new owners. They are actively working to stop all furloughs to be recalled to work.
Any and all recalls have to be approved by Mary M with a business case and dealing directly with Mary is root canal without freezing. The objective is to reduce, reduce, reduce - everything!
Look for work elsewhere
It is far better for you and your health, future and family.
Xerox stopped being a company the minute JV took over. You are nothing to him- nothing.

Look at the numbers man!! -36.5% June YOY, with analysts projecting -48% by end of year revenue. Your job is GONE. Everyone at Xerox is on borrowed time.

Sorry to say but you won't be called back, I kind of heard things so take our advice.
Go look for another job now, do not wait on Xerox!!!

I'm going to politely state the obvious by saying if Xerox found value in your work, you wouldn't be furloughed. If they can furlough you that easy and for that long, they do not need you and you're going to be living with a 50 lb bag of dog c-ap hanging over your head for the duration of time you MIGHT work there if they brought you back. You'll be constantly worried about being laid off or furloughed again.

Xerox is not a long term job. You will not be working there in 5 years because the company will be a shell of itself now (think about that) or gone. If you aren't near retirement in the next 2-3 years then leave. Start looking yesterday. Why not keep your options open and try to find a company that values you?
