Is there a way an argument can be made to use some of the "unlimited vacation " to re rice pay during furloughs?

No paid time off can be used to cover furlough days. If you are already on a medical leave they can't stop that, but if you get The Covid during your furlough and would have taken sick time, well, Honeywell Appreciates Your Sacrifice.
Put in vacation time during furlough to extend your time off. There might not be anyone to deny it.
Use your imagination to get creative.
Have you gotten a straight answer on how furloughs calculate into ddlp? Just omit a week from the denominator?
