Thread regarding Quest Software Inc. layoffs

Question for current old time questies. If there are any left that is

I am curious..

Doesn’t working for a company that year after year struggles to make numbers each quarter, even in a good economy, get old?

Doesn’t sitting around waiting for the next round of layoffs, hoping you get your merit increase get to be a bit much?

Doesn’t listening to yet another head chieftain lay folks off, give some speech about how these changes are needed to move the company in whatever direction the company’s new catch phrase is Bother you when you know it won’t work because it’s been done time and time before?

I just do not understand how Quest has enough employees left to keep laying so many of them off in the first place after all this time, after so many years of declining fortunes, failed plans, restructuring of BUs Just to restructure them again when the next head guy gets hired and starts the next round of layoffs...Rinse and repeat on and on...

And I’ll add the only benefits one could think of. Work from home, one week Christmas vacation, yearly bonus are legacy policies inherited from Quest 1.0 and DSG. You can be certain if those policies were not in place when Francisco brought DSG they would not be in place now. And the only reason they have not been removed is Management knows that even the most clueless employee would figure out there is no reason to stay unless you are just buying time to retirement or have outdated skills that are not in demand elsewhere.

Quest is not a growth company, like Apple or Google, which brings benefits and value both to its owners and its employees. There are no benefits to being a Quest employee. When I left Quest the only hiring manager who had even heard of the company was one who had hired former Quest employees. The others had never heard of Quest or any of the products it sells. Quest isn’t even any good as a talking point on your resume. And there is the problem with Quest which it’s managers have never been able to figure out the answer to. It’s little known company living on the old reputation of its founding selling software for data centers that are no longer being built like they were in 2005, so who would pretend to work there?

Buddy? :-) Who says buddy?? That post must have come in via the the 70's from one of the more elderly workers!

Don't know of anyone who left Quest that hasn't gone on to bigger and better things. WHO would pretend to work for Quest?? Sounds like someone has touched a nerve because most of us couldn't get out quick enough...

To the last poster: you should quit pretending you still work in Quest! Those of us who worked with you easily identified you from your many anti-Quest posts. Just do yourself a favour and move on buddy! You will feel better😃

To be honest, those that stay at Quest it's often a case of bluffed their way to their current position and you're not likely to move on when you've zero chance of getting anything similar anywhere else.

In the Cork office half the staff are new to IT and don't have the background, skills or confidence to go for new positions.

In my team the senior engineer is useless at his job but is dating the manager - so it's really not what you know!

I took pride in my job when I started at Quest.... not anymore.

It seems as if we are all just cattle with a # waiting to go to the slaughter.
This is not cool, it makes me sad and angry.

Ever since this went down, I've been unable to sleep properly, I wake up thinking when the next round will be. I get anxious. I get stressed.

We are all just #s at this point in this company... they don't care about the employees... it's all about the bottom line... and at whatever cost.

As for the re-brand BS.... it's more like "I am NOW scare of when the NEXT layoffs occur"

There are many who are simply marking time trying to get to retirement. Engagement and pride (once a hallmark of Quest) is non existent now and it's simply a job. Many are also highly skilled but in obscure technologies so there is nowhere else to go. Keeping your head down, not making waves, and doing just enough are the new hallmark of the new Quest.
