you are on the list if you are part of ER, take it and save yourself! reason why they ER you is due to age + xx reached a HR number. you will have higher chances being LRed due to that number will show up again in the list.. and your VP or SVP will be presented your name next few weeks again. He/she will cross your name or not depending on him/her, however, just constant fear will drive you nuts. and your number will show up again and again in the default list every 3 months! from now on..

What makes you think the LR package is going to be similar (perhaps identical) ?

You do realize companies, Cisco is a big one, put job postings out to gain interest and what people would accept as compensation. In many cases they will post YOUR job. Say you make $100k/yr. They get 500 applicants and 80% are seeking $75k/yr. That means you are overpriced to the company because there is enough demand out there to replace you. The numbers are fictitious, but it is heavily used by all tech companies.

{lease stop with the conspiracy theories. being offered the ER is a privilege - if you don't like it don't take it. Sure you might still get LRed (just like anyone else) but assuming you turned down an ER makes you any more likely to get an LR is just silly. Not to mention your ER package told you that if you are LRed, you'd not get screwed, but rather get a similar (perhaps identical) pacakge at LR time.
