Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

There is no upside right now for employees here

There are the people who do not want to be laid off because they need the job..... but what is the upside of all of this?? Staying???
It is clear that the company is going to get more aggressive with metrics and expectations going forward.. so if you survive the layoffs your reward will be getting a large transferred workload that will not have been well handled over the last 4 -6 months, increased new workload, less peers to share in the workload, the threat of more layoffs yet to come and your financial reward will be a capped pay grade to get a 3 percent raise if you are lucky....and likely News that there will be less company contribution to benefits in 2021..
People feel awful because there is no upside to this equation..if you lose your job, you will not be able to pay your bills. If you keep your job, you can look forward to incredible stress and unhappiness....
A terrible situation to be in and it is no wonder that people feel the way that they do working for this company right now..

Calculate your severance, it may not be as much as you think and now worth the stress you are going through. Allstate has only gotten worse since they became a publicly owned company. Allstate has to be profitable for the stockholders, so if your head has to go on the chopping block, so be it. Find another job if you can, when you leave roller over your 401k and pension, if you have any. If you can not trust them now, you will definitely not be able to trust them with your future.

I don't mean to pry but how do you know we will only be getting a 3% pay increase?

Likely a lower cap on the paygrades...
“Look at all the money that is at the top of this paygrade...........psych, you can’t make anymore than 75 percent of it even if you perform much better than expected.. ...now get back to your desk and give me 150 percent.”

None of the points made by OP are unknown...
We know how it is going to be...The work is not going away, only at least 1/3 of the people who currently handle it...
You know that there are more take aways coming....
What’s the next shoe to drop once the smoke clears on this?
The pension?, the 401K contribution? More layoffs once the merger is finalized?
I don’t want to be a downer but the OP was right on point...it is depressing???
The only certainty is more claims, more complaints/angry customers, less rewards for a job well done.

It’s all still unknown, I hate this company now but I have bills to pay (always put time in, always met expectations), don’t know if I’m going to have a job in 2 months, it’s already been 2 months with little information, I don’t know if I should move on or not, I’m being strung along and still expected to perform at 100% everyday, my manager is absent, he doesn’t know if he has a job or not, neither does his boss, or probably the person above him. It’s all unknown and waiting, my mental health is out the door at this point, you can’t f—ing treat people this way

It doesn't need to be said, but the leaders don't care. They expect us to give 110% while they proceed with (unnecessary) layoffs during a global pandemic.

Forget that.

The way I see it, if I'm not going to be keeping my job, I'll at least keep my sanity. Why should I work myself to mental exhaustion for a company that had no respect for its employees?

The benefits turned to trash $4000 deductible for a family with still some residual costs out of pocket?!? The respect isn’t there and the audacity to ask for brand reputation surveys that aren’t anonymous?! Awful withholding of pay from all employees and then an assessment that says contact your leader if you have concerns or questions, HELLO MY LEADER IS BEING ASSESSED AS WELL AND DOESN'T KNOW ANYTHING .
