Thank you Allstate for threatening me with a layoff. I have gone through a bit of a transformative growth myself. This will last 6 to 8 weeks but once I know where I stand I will assess if I got to make to my former self or keep this new version.
I work as a liability rep in the auto claims department. I used to login early and stay late and take short lunches if needed. To help streamline not being stressed out, I no longer do that.
I used to be extremely empathetic to everyone involved in an accident even if they were not policy holders. While you are trying to reduce costs, I am trying to reduce street so I no longer go the extra mile anymore. Got a claimant whose mad about a liability call cursing me out? I curse back. A policy holder who wants to whine for an hour about how her kids never call her? I interrupt her to say I'm sorry and steer the conversation back to the topic at hand.
And returning calls? I assess each one to determine who I will call back if at all! Just like you can't waste money or time on employees. I can't waste time or energy at my job with some people who call me.
I also know the real reason you are doing this is to make allstate look more profitable and sell it. That's also why you are waiting till the last quarter to resolve this.
Exciting times at my desk.

No more arguing and nickel/dining everything, I don’t have time. If this results in $100 overpayment in every claims, 7 claims a day is $700, 5 days a week is $3500, 4 weeks in a month is $14,000, 12 months in a year is $168000, but I’m not worth my 55k / year salary I guess, India can do it better
It’s hard to stay positive when an ax is being wielded at your livelihood. This is hellish. The biggest pile of stink is the fact that whoever gets canned will be tagged as a person who they don’t think meets the psychological profile of what they need in the new organization. All due to that psycho test, rating numbers and 5% tenure. How many offices are they going to close? If they close an entire office does that mean the whole office is dumb ? Or just expensive?
What fresh hell awaits us this upcoming week, my fellow Allstaters???
I hope that we all the stress and overwhelming amount of claims that the casualty adjusters are having we don't miss demands that could cost the company millions of dollars. That could be devastating
Look I already told you, I deal with the @#$% customers so the engineers don't have to. I have people skills! I am good at dealing with people, can't you understand that? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!
Now, you know it's up to you whether or not you want to just do the bare minimum. Or... well, like Brian, for example, has thirty seven pieces of flair, okay. And a terrific smile.
I never understood the trend of skipping lunch and eating at your desk, dropping crumbles on your keyboard. Have a proper lunch, people. You'll do a better job of you take care of yourself. At the end of the day, a corporation won't keep you just because you skipped lunch or are at your desk every day of your tenure. Take care of yourself first
The Allstate "caring about the employee" is a show, just like those scripted questions during the "town hall" meetings. They care only about $, that's it. We are all casualties of a capitalistic system while being blinded by the American flag. If you think Allstate is the only company run this way, you have a rude awakening coming. It's time for unions to come back so the American worker has some kind of voice and pull. This is why unions were born in the first place. The government will not help you, due to us being capitalists, they are also in the pocket of big business. Stop drinking the merican kool aid.
This job fn-s—s, plain and simple. And what really s—s are the employees that are still here continuing to kiss butt and work harder more than ever, like this company is going to change their mind and not get rid of you when it's time. This company needs to stop lying to us, we know there is a list of names already on the chopping block. But they want us to believe that it is based on our past reviews and some bs assessment. And then you want us to honestly believe that this process will take 6 to 8 weeks, SMH. So that you rather mentally torture us for that period. I'll finish this just as I started, this job fn-s—s.
Don’t ever love something that cannot love you back. Rule one working for Allstate. Unless you own it. The next time a CSL Throws out the phrase “ he works for me” or “she works for me”tell them to stuff it. Arrogant id–ts who have no more value to the company than you do
So so many people at ALL levels feel this way! You would think these Einsteins would of considered what the fall out might be after they took that big dump on everyone. These are “unprecedented” times alright. What a mess. Thanks Senior leadership. You’ve ruined what once was a great place to work. The reputation of Allstate is at an all time low and getting worse every day. Thousands of people read this site. Business executives ...customers. I’d be laying low too Senior Leadership. You got some booty kissing to do for the staff that you may keep. Better consider loyalty bonuses to get people to stay while you ship the rest of their jobs to Tim Buck Two. India ? Good luck keeping them down. They are already starting to protest for better / fairer wages from the American companies that are using them as serfs.
“Top Performer” here. I used to try so hard and now I literally don’t give a sh-t. My “transformative growth” was going from being proud to work for Allstate to realizing what a joke this company is to work for. Luckily I get actual health benefits from my spouses health plan. I’ll gladly take my years severance, unemployment and move on if they decide to ax me. I’m doing as little as possible and hoping to milk this company for all I deserve and have worked for. It feels good to do the bare minimum. Even if i keep my job I’ll continue to do as little as possible while seeking out other opportunities.
