Plenty of older workers espeically boomers who bring very little to the company but show up everyday and expect a check. Cant train them new things or tell them anything for that matter since they know it all.
Cant blame them for trimming the fat.

Unless you worked at Oracle and could keep their 14 redundant server nodes from crashing, then you would not have prevented the outage. It had nothing to do with any RJ system or personnel. The CEO of Oracle personally apologizing to RJ.
As a 27 year RJ FA, I loved working with all of you guys and really sad for those that are gone. If you were working on new FA facing systems, I was probably one of your Beta testers. So I really appreciate all that you have done and wish success to all of you.
Remember, when God closes a door a window is opened... so be open to new opportunities and stay positive.
With comments like that, I can tell you are the fat. I'm a boomer and am constantly improving my skillset, learning new technologies. I only wish this site allowed profanities, would love to tell you what I actually thing of you and your boomer/fat comments.
Obvious troll is obvious.
I "was" a loyal employee for more than 10 years. This is the worst treatment I have ever received. I also put in so many weekends and nights. You work a DRE on a Saturday for 8 hours, then again test applications on a Sunday and your reward...."go ahead and take tomorrow afternoon off". So a very large percentage of those laid off were in it. I know my development team had a pipeline of projects that would have kept us busy full time for a year and that was with us working 50 hour weeks, being on call, doing DRE's. I guess management has 2 choices now. Make those still there work 60 hour weeks, or stretch things out to 18 months. Bet they want those left to do the 60 hour plan.
“Trim the fat” Hahahaha I know far to many people at the company that were the “go to person” when the sh– hit the fan. They were always on-call even when they weren’t. When they were home with their families trying to enjoy a night of rest, when they were on vacation and even when they were sick. Those were some of the people that you consider to be the “fat”. This wasn’t a “trim the fat” moment. This was a hatchet job. Think what you will but understand, if you’re still there, you could be next. Your job is not safe, you are one reorg away from being the “fat”. Enjoy constantly watching over your shoulder to see if you still have a job and wake up everyday knowing that you’re just a number.
I am in my late thirties and I was part of the lay-offs. I think I did a job job, don't know what came into play to decide who to lay-off but for sure I can say I feel I did a good job!
someone told me some of these apps are being held together with bailing wire and tooth picks. Lets revisit how things are going in a month. Heck wonder how month end/quarter end/year end are going to go on 9/30. I also heard Paul R. is having a town hall on Friday. he has lots of explaining to do.
I’m a millennial and I worked my a– off for years at RJ so that’s definitely not the case. I know plenty of people around my age who also worked just as hard that were laid off. It’s clear from the client access outage that some of the people they let go were helping keep the company afloat 🤷🏼♀️ Guess that’s what they get for only letting go non-financial advisors
lets see what you say when they have another major incident and one of us could have resolved it quickly and it takes RJ days to resolve. I feel nothing for RJ management. I do feel sorry for my peers that have to pick up the slack
