How can RM's and above have sales expectations of the managers when they dont even buy their own kids course materials in our stores?
Many years ago my RM was sending their first kid to college, in conversation my rm told me they purchased their child's books elsewhere, less money. Had the same conversation with my gvp-same thing, purchased elsewhere. So, when upper management says our prices are considerably higher, how are we expected to sell anything?

Same with Book Fairs. Tech savvy and money conscious librarians are opening up Amazon prime accounts and placing all their book orders with Amazon. Plus they get all the extra points for being a prime member. Books on Amazon are usually 30% to 40% cheaper than a Follett Book fair.
Ditto. 4 kids through college and rarely purchased from the Follett bookstore. Way cheaper elsewhere. Of course, that is why we fully support the includED Access program. Take away choice.
My GVP was a terrible RM but he was promoted because he doesn’t push back, just says yes ma’am and does what he’s told. We’ve lost a lot of good people out here because he has no spine. He also buys books for his son elsewhere.
I hear you, but at the same time, GVPs are the last people I would look to for moral leadership at this company.
