Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Will there layoffs for call centers this year?

I know the current trend is to take down retail but I really can’t stand all the calls we are getting. I’m planning on quitting but hopefully there is a RIF coming around the end of q3 so I can get paid to leave. Anyone have any sources or ideas?

Reps in stores that were closed permanently were given the option to work from home or severance. Same will apply to reps from call centers that were closed that can not meet the wfh requirements long term. Verizon would not open themselves up to lawsuits by offering severance to some and not others under the same circumstances.

Damn, should have taken the last 2 packages, I can see that makes sense. Hopefully Covid k–ls enough revenue to make it cheaper to offer packages to front line call center

I can tell you with absolute certainty there is no RIF for front line call center agents in our long term strategy. Regular attrition will take care of it and hiring freezes will go into play if needed. And worst case scenario, we can offload SPC way cheaper than it is to offer a package to a front line employee.

I doubt it considering there may soon be a loss of quite a few reps who are unable to meet the permanent work from home requirements.
