Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

LA CASUALTY MCO - LAYOFFS this week

Allstate layoffs are this week. Senior managers with over 25 yrs of loyalty are terminated bc they make top salaries. Bean counter mentality really revealed this week. Allstate adjusters let go after massive 6 weeks push to clean up files and tasks that festered for years inattentiveness. Allstate's norm is adjusters working 60+ hours/week with no overtime pay with unrealistic expectations that set employees for failure. The #4 Allstate company that had to buy National General at $4 Billion CASH to secure #2 position. Allstate is known for: high turnover with below par customer service, lack of training and antiquated Next Gen program and bottleneck claim processes.
Allstate is all about the PROCESS and PROFIT, not their employees nor their customers. KARMA is a b–ch.
Allstate's strength WERE their loyal employees. Not sure who are the winners- those who are laud off with a sigh of relief or those who are included in the NEW Allstate that inherit a huge inventory?
Remember, there are other jobs available with State Farm, GEICO, & Progressive who were all ranked higher than Allstate.
This too shall pass & Allstate will be a blur!

Allstates software is a dinosaur.
How do they expect adjusters working 60 hours a week going to do this with it. Expectations for the details of entry have to be changed as well.

Ineffocient??? Whats inefficient is having a system that can't equitably distribute work and then compounds the problem by having management pretend it isn't happening. Like we don't know how to read our own data marts.

Training does not prepare you at all! You learn as you work and make a ton of mistakes, then get reviewed on it as if you were an expert

That’s true. If you’re efficient you can do this job in a timely manner. There’s no need to put 60 plus hours in this job. If you’re doing that and your laid off that’s why.

I do have to agree with the statement about training. They throw you out to the wolves with sub par training and then use it against you later for your review. Also, NextGen is one of the worst systems I’ve ever seen in any of my jobs!

Pickle it must be nice. Because the rest of us have so much turnover you have to pick up the slack. Don’t make assumptions. You have no idea what is happening in the other offices. And apathy is part of the problem.

I don’t think the cost is tied to salaries. Allstate pays less than competitors. Employees are underpaid and over worked.

Allstate has made it clear that it intends to compete and has been very transparent about why and how. Its costs are higher than its competitors, and unfortunately most of those costs are employee-related. It's unfortunate you were caught up in this, but it is a business and sometimes difficult decisions must be made to correct years of bad decisions.

Only the really inefficient adjusters are working 60 hours a week. Hyperbole doesnt help at all. I worked in one of the busiest markets and only the adjusters with priority and time management issues worked any overtime at all.
