well NS is following the leaders in this industry.
Hump yards are dwindling away one at a time.
NS you will never be a leader by always following !

Chattanooga consistently humps over 2000 in 24 hours with less people.
No doubt they will shut us down again because why...f–k us, that's why.
Enola hump yard closed Friday
I'm just saying per Vena's mouth, that is his view of what makes a hump worth it or not. Harrison PSR historically hates hump yards, if you are at a hump yard start saving for contingencies now. Look at UP's hump closures if you need any extra proof of what's to come.
When you running of customers and making your car loads drop you don't need hump yards.
Wilt the Stilt Chamberlain could hump 3k a day. FACT!
Lol I’m not sure where you people get your numbers I deal with them 5-6 days a week....Conway and Elkhart are deff not humping 2k a day....the only yard that used to was Bellevue and you see what they are doing now. Think what you want about your terminal but no ones safe
Conway will barely hump 1500 cars on good day. Elkhart will hump over 2100 cars a day, Birmingham and Chattanooga are high in hump numbers also
Elkhart isn't the only one. Conway can hump and inspect 800 cars easily in a shift. I see it everyday.
**Vena formula, does the hump sort over 1500 cars a day? if no close it, if yes see if you can flat switch. only yard in NS that humps that much volume everyday is Elkart 😪
Macon will soon be idled.

Macon will remain open as well
this is old news. the only hump yards that will remain in operational status are Elkhardt, Conway, Chattanooga, and Inman. Everyone else has either already shut down, in the process, or about to be.
the MTR device will be getting the yardmasters at non hump terminals soon. Clean sheet group is here in Atlanta now sharpening their axes. too bad they don't cut all the "extra" trainmaster first. that would give them the savings they need. Wish they would so I can go back to my tools without having to repay the moving package.
