Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Don't listen to company propaganda

They told us, we were ok, safe, nothing to worry about. Keep working hard, and nose to grindstone talk. Then layoffs occurred. People from all walks of life, ranks, etc. Gonzo. So much for that loyality, dedication, ok, safe yammer. Just more company propaganda to dupe you. Please please please do not believe anything that comes out of your bosses/leadership mouths/corporate "news" blasts. It's there to sate you to keep you from jumping ship. Do not be tethered to a sinking ship. You leave. They have no love or respect for you. It's money. That's all. Money. Get more. Money. remember they said were ok and safe. BS.

Perfectly said, @1pwv+175AZOBj.

Unlike other countries, the us ties in 'health care' as a job benefit bc the us empire does not have a health care system-it's an underdeveloped 'country' with wage slaves and stockholm syndromed people hamster wheeling. That's why all the anxiety and nonsense with these corporate jobs

Do the bare minimum and leave. Do not give your all, love, everything, etc. Being a company man, yes man etc. This was a US corporation and they. Do. Not. Care. Profits over people. Vulture capitalism

  1. 5 years, age 58 and 10 months old and I got let go Wed Sept 23rd. I was a committed employee, no writ.e ups, warnings. Would be considered a star employee, for what??? I gave this company everything and loved my job. Never complain as I didn’t have anything to complain about..... What goes around comes around. Chin up, God always has a plan for us.

I still need to pay my bills and provide health insurance for my family. It isn't just a job; it is survival. And if you've noticed, a great percentage of people being let go are over 50. Ageism? Good luck finding a new job in this environment.35

Funny thing, the first time my manager told me that no jobs would be impacted by changes they were making, I knew for sure that jobs would be impacted. That group just had their 4th layoff since December. I had enough severance to make it worth sticking around until the axe fell but it was sad.

No one has ever told us that we are "safe" and if they did, I wouldn't believe them. Working in a company this size means that you are never safe. If your salary happens to match what they need to save, or if you are the one that's going to complete the 10% "across the board" cut, you are toast! It typically doesn't even matter how good/bad/whatever you are. So yeah, having feelings of love, or loyalty to a company this size is going to get you hurt. It's a job. You work, and they pay you....until they decide to stop paying you, or you decide to leave. If you want to feel love and loyalty and respect, go to a much much much smaller company where those personal relationships can be with the people who matter, and who are making the personnel and budget decisions. You may get paid less, but you can have those feelings and know that they are real. This is just a little dose of reality. I've worked for several large companies (100,000+ employees) and they are all the same. It's just a job.
