Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Procrastinating looking for a new job

I hope that layoff will bypass me for at least a few more months or that circumstances will change with the discovery of an effective vaccine, but I am afraid that we, optimists, are usually wrong. Everything indicates that I should look for a new job but it is VERY DIFFICULT for me to look for a job in the midst of a pandemic. So I’m procrastinating looking for a new job but maybe I shouldn’t?

A lot of companies are doing work from home. I got a new position. I have to go into the office. I was laid off, soon as my bg check comes back. I am out. Even if you make this round of cuts, there are going to be more layoffs. I don't like the instability.

If I can give a suggestion, don't wait... gaps in resume are seen like the hell of the hell... Invest your time in searching for a new job. Out there is pretty bad and the queue is getting longer and longer...

I had an interview and they only offered me maybe $2 more to drive a half hour and to come back into an office.... while Allstate doesn’t pay well, I’m willing to ride it out as long as I can to stay home. The time it puts back in my day, plus the money saved on gas is immensely valuable. I’d need like $3 more an hour to justify going back into an office.

I'm in the same situation. I'm going to wait until the pandemic gets better. Hopefully in the next 2-3 years. I don't believe in Allstates long term vision at all anymore. Obviously if I see something I can't turn down I'll apply. However, consider most jobs have their offices closed for covid anyways so I might as well stay with Allstate until offices open back up
