Just a thought, the Chinese always seem to be very good long term strategists. Are they seeing something going on with this insane global mess that the west can't?. The Democrats in the US are threatening to shutdown the oil and coal industries, could be much turmoil in the days to come.

A case of getting off the ship before the torpedo hits? This may have been a fatal blow to Cenovus, but that's ok. Exec's will still get their bonuses.

Since this merger will be done in a stock exchange fashion, the price of the two securities are tied to each other, minus any small % risk difference attributed to the deal not going through.

There was a 19% premium to Husky’s EOD Friday price given the share exchange ratio. So if cenovus went down ~ 11% it makes sense Husky is still up ~8%

That market loves this almost as much as when B-Fergs bought COP.
