Good. STK legacy finally dead.

Someone is going to win the long term archive war, It will not be Oracle. I worked on the SL150, SL8500, SL3000 and SL4000. Oracle does not appear to be a long term player in the archive market. Archiving to the cloud, is flat stupid. The Cloud uses these same tape technologies.

This is a trust issue. Whatever little trust and/or goodwill that Oracle used to have with customers was squandered long ago.

You're a bit slow, so I'd include you as part of the overall problem, which is Oracle. It is a shared downfall, but a downfall nonetheless.

So support out to 2034 is not long enough for you? Maybe sales people like you are the problem.

Re: new x86 server

Exactly. Like I said, the customer is concerned about the longevity of our hardware product line. Was i not clear enough on that point??

My customers are worried about the longevity of oracle's hardware product line, so are buying Dell servers instead. I didn't even bother trying to talk them out of it. IMO, they made the right call.

Really? You did not want to tell them about the new upcoming Oracle x86 server over a Dell purchase? Are you sure you do not work for IBM?

What ever happened to the Santa Clara campus? There used to be a lot of HW folks there, right?

Sun HW sux. Period. Always has. And it will be cut loose and it will die, forever. I sleep better knowing that's inevitable.

Ya know, all you HW snobs had better realize that you can install Solaris on sun oracle hardware and have a stable platform. Maybe it will take you a day. Can you say the same for this cloud stuff they sell?

Fire the HW BU. Sell whatever c.r.a.p IP remains to Fujitsu

Post ID: @2wcc+17DmYBfD

The hardware BU ships at least products that work, the SW products that is initially ships works for 80%, the products are completed in the first year of lifetime.
Without the HW BU there would have been no ExaCS, there would have been no OCI, there would be no ERP Cloud at all.
O would be as dead as SAP without HW.

No need to be cruel by blaming the people, who did not create the Issues, but who will end up paying for it with their jobs

Good. STK legacy finally dead. Now if we would only do the same with the rest of the hardware BU.
