Is it 1:1 with your manager? How about HR? What do they tell you?

Coward style: 1) Read out an HR scripted paragraph. 2) Lie about it being your role being eliminated rather than you. 3) Dump a too-big-to-read folder with legal text in front of you. 4) Pretend they care about any questions (let alone feelings) you have. 6) Celebrate the excellence and dignity they experienced in 'these difficult times'.
And a little later: Re-hire for the same role. Preferably someone with no experience and more expensive.
It probably varies by org but this week it was an invite from the VP and HR if it was an exit and an invite just from the VP if it was just a conversation about your team moving or a lateral move to a new position or nothing changed for your position. And the exits were all in the morning.
It can be your manager and HR or your manager's boss and HR.
