Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Lazy STPs

Who else is tired of the lazy STPs coasting and not doing any work? Many STPs in Surface never at work, never online, never available for consultation. What are they here for? They leave the rest of us in the Function to pull up the slack then they get all the benefit. Not a fair situation at all.

There are a few good ones. But I have encountered a few that just don't seem to care and are never available to help.

There is lots of BS on this thread about STPs ... they are some of the best experts we have. I’d say some of the “experts” that are project assigned are the dead weight

My experience has been varied. Some STPs are very practical, plugged in, available and helpful. Others rarely respond to email or phone calls, leaving you hanging.

Like other aspects of our company the accountability piece for people in technical leadership positions seems to be missing.

Global Projects & UIS PIP’d some of their STPs and no one noticed they are gone! In theory - great career progression ladder, however, some of the STPs are just the wrong engineer for the job.

Does not mirror my experience in EMIT as well... the two STPs I regularly work with are very knowledgeable, well-respected, extremely kind, helpful and hands-on. They have lots of practical experiences, fronted the tough questions from the top, and have also literally shown me which buttons to click in the systems and where to look for definitions of processes. They are some of the best in xom, and I love working with them even though they are half way round the world.

I also love the Stone Temple Pilots, and think they are great.

If the STPs in global Projects aren’t in the office, they are out with their teams helping out and lending support. I have had regular support from them and they bring a wealth of knowledge and support to us!!

Yes. In global projects they are available...but incompetent. To many armchair quarterbacks without any project experience. They don’t understand stand how things actually work on site. (Cost and schedule being the worst)

So, you are checking online messenger and judging who is working who is not? This is sick...this is the culture that we need to get rid off.

I think STPs are fine, just like other employees, no difference in scope of work, salary, etc. STCs yes, they dont do much and have exec CL
