Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

It’s sad to see

I used to be proud of this company being one of the oldest financial institutions. It speaks of stability and longevity. But how much longer can a company last when most of their employees are overworked while receiving pay that is below industry standards? “Employee engagement” doesn’t seem to exist anymore and morale is the lowest I’ve experienced in my 12 years here. All of this makes me hate how much things are changing. I never before considered leaving. Now that’s the only thing on my mind.

I was a 15-year SST veteran that left on my own right when the outsourcing to India started and Yes, I am 100 times happier at my new role.

But to just to show you have far State Street has pummeled— in our sales decks back in the early 2,000s there used to be a slide with this tag line:

"People are greatest Asset"

That was back when they actually pretended to care about their employees, and to be honest, it was a great place to be pre-2015.

No, you will not find one word about people being an asset in State Street's sales materials.

Was laid off in 2019 just shy of 30 years. Just celebrated one year at my new company. Great company that knows how to treat employees. Last 10 years at State street was not same company when I first started. They stopped caring about employees .

Life is like a car, if you keep looking in the rear view mirror you will never see the road ahead of you.

Spending too much time reminiscing about the past can be like quicksand, your slowly drowing.

Want advice? Don’t waste any more time there. Every employee I know that have left are so much happier - some by choice, some by circumstance. I am one. Never been happier to have taken the leap. It is sad to see - but don’t let fear stop you. So much better out there. You will find an employer that knows you by name and not an employee ID as State Street thinks of their employees.

Yes this once great company which every high school graduate and college graduate dreamed of working for.
The company which you knew you could have a job with them until you retired.

But sadly they started layoffing off workers starting in the year 2000yr, then around 2009 ? it was outsourcing jobs outside the U.S

Image lol if you been there for 5 years your considered a senior worker lol.
The old timers who trained the new hires, with their vast knowledge are now gone.
