NLR car dept. has no managers with fake degrees i can assure you. That is not how they hire managers in this dept. Whoever has the catchiest name is how they are hand picked.

Yep. UP can’t even fill an OMT class with people from state schools anymore when they were still hiring. Back when they did all those guys were gone ASAP.

People with real degrees usually are smart enough to get out of this industry within a short amount of time.

All the people who don’t think it matters have never gotten a real degree from a regionally accredited 4 year university. Same with the people who don’t think a degree from such a university helps you become a more well rounded, competent individual. Unfortunately, the railroad is full of people with this mindset and it shows with the poor management and the low morale.

The point isn’t about having a degree or not having a degree. It is about lying about having a degree and buying a degree from a diploma mill. This is a crime in various states. It is very relevant that people in positions of power at UP are breaking the law and claiming to have credentials that they don’t. One of you seems pretty defensive, so you might have a fake degree too. Either way, if it bothers you then you don’t have to read the post or create a numbered list as a response listing all the reasons you don’t care (but actually you do).

I know plenty of people with degrees that have no business managing people. I also know of many managers without degrees who are great managers. A piece of paper and a college experience by no means makes a person. Most smart people these days can educate themselves within a short amount of time using these great little smart phones.

There are an even greater number with no degree at all. We all know this. What is your point? That UP is filled with people who are unprofessional and/or uneducated? College recruiters know this. Glassdoor knows this. All employees know.

  1. Don’t get upset when this thread is removed for having nothing to do with layoffs.
  1. This fraud case has to do with lying to the government about how many non-vets were enrolled, not over the quality of education.
  1. They seem to have been only a technical school.
  1. Shut up already. We get it. Someone who bought a degree got promoted instead of you. The real problem is that you neither accept your lot in life nor do you do anything about it...other than cry to anyone that’ll listen.

How do you know this information? Do you know these individuals personally or is this another rumor being passed around? In the great scheme of things, what does this matter anyway? It doesn’t take a degree to perform as a lower level manager.
