Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

"Employee Lifecycle" departments

A sign that layoffs , reorgs, negativity and employee antipathy is the T culture.
The massive surplus human resources organization is the icing on the cake.

HR was the first organization to embrace racial diversity. How's that working now?

HR is barely human and definitely not a resource with this company.

I wonder what HR is doing these days?

Not hiring new people, not promoting people, not negotiating benefits cost (they go up significantly every year), not developing training (all outsourced), and not improving organizational design (long live silos and bureaucracy).

HR is reading off pre-vetted statements when announcing layoffs, sitting on panels and provide a—kissing back-up to executive spin, promoting quantitative diversity stats while claiming to hire the best candidates when there is no hiring or promotion.

All and all, why do we even need HR? Just make sure our pay checks are processing on time and go away.
