Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Nike LA Laid Off All White Employees

I can’t believe the Playa Vista( not West) office let go of all the white employees, some have been there for 20+ years and others were approaching their 5th year. We realized after reaching out to each other that it was all the white employees who were let go. The niece of the Director got to stay with zero experience. I am hurt and still in disbelief, I will be reaching out to an employment lawyer to weigh our options.

I am aware that the West office had lay offs, I’m referring to my old office and our small team. I hope the truth comes out how the one of the directors that stayed steal merchandise for herself and her family. :-)

If all the layoffs since July through now ( the later lay offs will need to wait until Jan 1 to get this perspective)
See who filled your rolls...

You will see your age, gender and your race did play a part. Not your expertise, talent and value.

Nike tried to cover their tracks by releasing a disclosure letter listing roles & age of VP’s cut after the fact ( after your dear john letter) to cover their a**
I would suspect each band after that, that got cut, were presented with a similar letter ( but probably on time since they f’d up on that the first round)

Still, does it change the fact that you are “old” and white and lost your job for to make room for younger talent of more diverse backgrounds...
Does it make it okay? Sounds like reverse racism

If you were a leader, future leader and up and coming that lost your job to make room for the less experienced and paid less- but look better on paper by being of a more ethically diverse origin make it okay? In order to Make a VP look better, make their org. Seem more “open minded” to align with the company’s message of inclusion?

Think not . It should be about ability, talent, team building, innovation

Not about race... and age.

So many teams are missing their leaders now.
So sad and short sighted

Oversized "diversity" is same as discrimination, keep incompetent ppl just because of their race is ridiculous. Sorry for you and those affected.

Nepotism is alive and well at Nike. Racism, ageism, misogyny, bullying and now mass layoffs. In the mean time Nike Panders to the consumer with aspirational TV commercials, platitudes and lies of who they really are. Those who have lived it in the Berm with poor people managers and high school /middle school type so called leaders know how that shoe pinches. LA, know that you are not alone - the pain is real, the hurt is real .somehow we have to learn to fly with these broken wings .....
