Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Ensuring its own demise

I'll never understand AT&T leadership. The way they conducts layoffs ensures that the remaining workforce ends up with diminished capabilities again and again. Do they really think that constant removal of the highest paid employees - whose capabilities and experience are reflected in their pay - are not having a long-term negative effect on the company's bottom line? Can they really be that blind?

It’s about money, not skill

Randall pocketed over $300 million, loaded up the company with unsustainable debt, lost tens of billions in market value and drove the stock to historic lows.

However, he will never be held accountable and will receive tens of millions of dollars on his departure , millions more in perks and a Golden parachute when he leaves.

IMHO, RS was one of the single most incompetent CEOs to ever walk the halls of HQ. JS is a close second. No real vision for the business. No idea how things run on a daily operations level. Surrounded by a bunch of pretenders that are equally clueless. This organization is focused on trying to balance numbers on a spreadsheet; not creating value for its customers. What RS wrought was criminal to the enterprise. And JS continues to perpetrate the same nonsense. Frustrating to watch. Infuriating to navigate. Now, with a Biden win, they can cry poor-mouth to elected officials in the hopes of some government subsidies to bolster the balance sheet.

We were a great company for many years , the techs were allowed the freedom to go above and beyond for our customers. We had all the tools we needed to trouble shoot with. We were allowed as techs to help each other when needed . We could communicate to customers go back times that worked for them , and us. Then came Randall . Then came efficiency based computer software programs that gave management the whip to strike us workers with. And though they know its a failed management tool , they have fallen in love with the power and control it gives them . They don't care if the numbers are correct or truthful . Randall wants something , anything that will give him reason to brow beat the guys that actually do the work . Staying relevant was a joke , a Randall joke , on all of us .

on the flip side, Friedman probably told RS and Stank all the riches they would be entitled to if they practiced globalization.

Sorry to say, but they do not care one iota. They are all multimillionaires. Why would they care?

Remember RS invited his good pal Tom Friedman to tell employees you are NOT ENTITLED TO ANYTHING, especially your job. If anything happens, its your fault stupid. Employees do not matter

The corporate stench was created by the acquisition , strategic wizards that know everything and are never wrong. The corporate culture reflects arrogant, unlikable CEO Stank perfectly .

AT&T is the big data daddy. We should be able to calculate the ROI for each employee and report it in their annual reviews. Just have everyone report projects and time in WEBSTR. Layoffs should start with this metric, just like they did in the old Tech Dev.

Stinky wants to reduce expenses, so rebadge the highest paid, usually, the longest service and replace with Mumbai U grads that are paid pennies.

Stinky don't care about T's demise - he will pull his golden parachute long before that happens and move on to ruin some other business.
