Or is it gonna happen tomorrow

Cisco may be dying slowly (let's face it, the layoffs in 2009 started a slow-bleed that sped up in 2016) but that doesn't mean the technology sector isn't expanding like crazy.

Cisco's had its day - 80%+ margins on tin isn't where the market is. Take a peek on LinkedIn and see where all the high performers you used to work with have gone and talk to them.

Chances are they're hiring and maybe, if you can see past your Cisco-tinted glasses, you might find a meaningful career without the annual threat of layoffs.

Good luck.

I would be interested in any cases of discrimination by Cisco UK or suspected discrimination in the UK. The equalities and human rights commission in the UK have looked at a case against Cisco. If my understanding of the findings are correct the committee won’t continue the investigation, not because there isn’t a case to answer but because as an individual case it won’t change the behaviour of the employer and it does not cross their internal threshold for legal aid. The evidence is pretty clear cut. Now the same case was raised directly with Cisco through the ethics committee but no response fromCisco apart from the automated email. My belief is because it was raised against HR directors so why no investigation. Now Cisco state zero tolerance for any form of discrimination, an independent committee have looked at the evidence and have not said there isn’t a case to answer. Now this evidence is not under an MSA so I can share if there is anyone who feels they have been discriminated in the commission may feel the threshold has been crossed and Cisco investigated.

I was LR'd from the UK previously.

First, you have to believe that it's not your fault. You must have dodged a fair few bullets to get to 2020 and not been caught. Now it's your time, you're either too old, too expensive or not top of the patronage list. It does still hurt though, never good to be on a list of people that aren't required anymore, but it really isn't your fault.

Second, if you want to stay, then get networking now. No one will come looking for you. Reach out to your old line managers and teams, tell them you're at risk, say you'll take what's available. A few people in my consultation group managed to find another role as they wanted to stay.

Third, decided on your plan, use the employment consultancies , LHH for my year, and execute it. Can be good to talk to someone outside of Cisco. Any conversations inside Cisco and your reporting line are now all by the book with HR present

Get your employment lawyer sorted asap. You need them to sign the seperation agreement before you get any money. The agreement is all water tight, so it's pretty much a tick box.

Though it doesn't mention it anywhere on the paperwork, you can't rejoin for 6 months, internal Cisco policy.

Plenty of stuff out in the wild, I took some time off and I'm now on a better package in a better company.

Good luck.

And so it begins. Notified this morning. Yes a tear was shed, for a company, for the friends far and wide, a culture that was ace to grow up in. It's but a now a sad numbers game, bereft of innovation, bereft of care. Thanks for all the fish.

@gjn+17QTsqQN. Please go to your inbox and look up emails from DM. The link to the consultation should be in there. Or else you should have received a box invite from someone at HR about couple weeks back.

You do realize Cisco has been doing this quarterly for 10 years. Think about all the families impacted over the years.

These companies don't care about the employees. Chuck - the schmuck - said (with his stage drama face) that Cisco will take care of its employees and they care about each and every one of them. That all is a history... His ELT is getting millions $$ of stocks awarded. All UKI management is typical numbers management - they care about themselves and not anyone else.

This is going to look very bad on Cisco and wait for 12th Nov for the earnings call... the stock and earnings going to tank.

Yes, meeting is tomorrow! How did people find the collective consultation correspondence?

Exactly. Because there was an announcement, they could have started in August and it would be over in early October. Instead we have to live through this stress and psycho emails from DM (with the link for mental health support) for months and months. Totally irresponsible.

Since I’ve been at Cisco the UK is always later than the US. The main difference this year is there was a big publicised announcement

Cutting costs = Increased VP bonus/stock

Don't forget that Cisco is a family.

Yeah. Really sad days at Cisco UK. I am looking to leave, LR or no LR. Heartless, irresponsible management by DM

In the US we had MANY SEMs LR'd interesting it is different there. Seems like US is getting ready to consolidate heavily by removing middle management.

I think the notifications will go tomorrow. I have heard that 10th is the D-day for LR and all the people @risk will be notified. Its amazing that people are getting LR'd while SEM and Directors are getting promoted. Amazing mgmt under DM.
