Did you get a meeting invite from your boss or upper management just before? Was a meeting scheduled far in advance? Did they present your severance at that time? Any light you can shed would be appreciated.

Non-negotiatiable. Good luck getting any questions answered by HR Direct. Also download your final pay statement to verify everything is correct.
Severance is not negotiable, they are clear about that.
Can anyone speak to whether or not there are opportunities to negotiate on severance?
I got the zoom invite the night before with the VP and HR. I sent my Director a text asking if I should be worried and eh said he got an invite for 1 hour earlier. I didn't sleep knowing it was coming. The call was maybe 6 minutes. My VP was great and compassionate. HR was very agnostic of emotion. Once the severance was discusses, I just wanted the call to end. When it did end, I took a 2 hour nap.
Like others have shared, You will get a zoom meeting request day of. It will be quick and cold. There will be absolutely no care and consideration for you and the impact to you emotionally. No gratitude at all for everything you’ve contributed to the company.

Invite came from my VP earlier in the day. Yes, they discuss the terms of the severance at that time.
