What better way is there to instill fear than by showing us that experienced/knowledgeable coworkers can be easily replaced by doubling our workloads and hiring fresh employees we have to train? It speaks volumes for a company that is known for its questionable tactics and indecisive strategy. I for one am constantly in fear for my job. The only safe ones are those who have a golden parachute hanging in the wings.

Allstate operates on the ideology that demoralizing and constant fear is the best away to keep the masses in line. They actually think that working at Allstate is such a privilege and blessing that the employees will take it and obey. There are many other less poisonous and less toxic places to work where better wages and benefits are to be had.
Companies - the good ones - strive to achieve trust and cooperation amongst their employees. The quickest way to destroy trust and destroy cooperation, start laying off people.
The effect on the “impacted” employees is clear, but the author of this thread illustrates the affect on those who are keeping their jobs. We do not care how hard you work, what your performance review was, or how long you’ve been here; if you fall on the wrong side of our spreadsheet - you’re out. We do not guarantee employment.
And people come to work everyday - afraid.
The promise of continued layoffs in 2021 simply adds to the fear and anxiety. It is beyond the pale how oblivious upper management is - the irreparable harm this is having on our culture.
