Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Time to change executive pay

the time has come for crony boards to change executive pay - you don't get bonuses based on expense cuts which is code for fire employees - instead if the stock doesn't increase or sales don't then you get zero bonus!!! thats a big darn deal john stankey and randall stephenson

"Randall sacrificed and gave lots of ungrateful workers jobs. Good job."

That's interesting. Could you perhaps share what Randall sacrificed? Was it worth $30M? I would love to feel sorrow for his horrible sacrifice but it's hard when I'm laughing this hard!

"Most compensation is in stock, so in order to profit from that stock has to appreciate. "

Yeah, and that is why Ratty is the largest individual shareholder of T stock. He gets a $1M check each and every quarter, irrespective if the stock goes up or down. Not a bad haul for a Duffus that ruined T. While thousands of employees were rebadged, trained their replacements from Mumbai U, and then got whacked from Tech M, Accenture, or IBM.

Do you have a copy of the current executive compensation plan, and what performance metrics are in it. Most compensation is in stock, so in order to profit from that stock has to appreciate. Salary and bonus are industry standards, which the bonus portion is tied to financial bogeys, such as profit, cash flow, and ROI.

you are making too much sense. look at toyota's ceo doesn't make than some percentage of the lowest paid employee and make some of the most reliable cars today. owned a gm and currently own a toyota the gm had a mountain of paperwork and receipts of warranty work. when the warranty ended I dumped it really quick and got a toyota and nothing but oil changes and tire rotations once a year on it and no mountain of paperwork. never own a gm again. looks like to me a model that is working.

Serial acquirer master strategists RS,JD and The Stank ARE OVERCOMPENSATED FAILURES. Their master plans were implemented and it has been a disaster. They have as much credibility as CNN.
Should have been fired and sued for running a con or gross incompetence.
Arrogance, stupidity, incompetence, narcissism mixed with positions of power , no accountability is a recipe for never ending failure. LEADERSHIP LEADERSHIP LEADERSHIP ....TO FAILURE
No growth, debt debt debt, layoffs layoffs layoffs

After he botched up the T-Mobile deal that cost us $5 BILLION, Randy's bonus was cut by $2 million and his comp was 'only' $22 million for that year. And he was kept on anyway...He later whined on a townhall that the missing $2 mill had been such a hardship on his family... It didn't get better with the DTV and TW deals.

If a CEO and his complicit team is not forced out after such a colossal failures, then no, nothing will change in that same self-serving coven of corporate entitlement.

And any employee stockholder submitting non-conformist opinions will be on the next round of layoffs. Worked every time.

Soon there will be nobody left to blame and beat up on 'until morale improves'.

Sounds like HR is fishing for the next pick on this trail..
And now, Jiffy, I will get back to work - for the competition.

AT&T is such a huge cash cow, it should be damn near impossible to screw this place up, but some how, the dip sh1t leadership team managed to do just that.

I don't see a big shift coming for executive pay anytime soon. It will take a huge scandal, bigger than Enron and Arthur Anderson, before the country revolts and force changes. Politicians won't do a thing neither, half of the voters are in the alternate reality with Trump as a genius. Meanwhile, health care, infrastructure, education, all important systems are falling apart. Nope, not a god damn thing will change.

Many of these Board members serve on each other’s boards and use the products of other board members companies. So essentially they all get together and vote themselves healthy bonuses regardless of performance!!

As a stockholder you have the right to express your opinion to the board of directors. Just write them a letter.

Agree a change is needed. Cutting expenses is too easy, any monkey can do that. There should be a long term ROI measurement for every acquisition. DirectTV would fail. Tmobile aquisition attempt would fail. Randall should give money back to T. He tried to emulate his predecessor Whitaker with "big" acquisitions, but failed miserably multiple times.
