CTO said they will wrap up all the layoffs by few weeks. So maybe few more rounds of layoff before heading for the holiday.
Would like to know how layoff affect h1b employee.
Do I have to leave the country on the same day I get laid off? or is there a grace period?

I was on H1B at NCR and I got sacked on Nov 10th. You get 60 days to find another job or go back to your home country.
NCR, the company that was cutting salaries so is hard working folks could keep their jobs. It’s all BS, and they cannot be trusted. A news outlet needs to cover this story; I can’t tell you how many of my co-workers have been laid off. Hard workers too that put 100% into the work they did.. Tossed like trash.
Unless I am mistaken, NCR (the employer) is actually responsible for ensuring that you leave the country. At least that was the case for me many years ago in another job.
That's not likely to happen for an H1B but if it did then you would need to leave because NCR is your sponsor.
