Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

HR Here - Please Leave While You Can

I left the organization do to all the unethical things myself and my other HR coworkers were forced to do by senior leadership such as fire someone because they simply don't like them, laying employees off by the flip of a coin because they were to lazy, forced to hire someones child who is unqualified, overlooking the right person for a merit increase or a promotion. Firing the employee and not their supervisor who is clearly the one who is the problem. Nepotism. Employees dating/getting married who are direct reports and giving them preferential treatment. The list goes on....
Please leave while you can as the Reduction in Force (RIFs) are only going to continue for the coming years.

Absolutely true. Too many examples to even remember them all after 30 years with Allstate. Run away.

I was at All for 27 years and saw many examples that the OP makes.
Raises, promotions etc were heavily subjective.

I think it depends on which department you were in. ASAP for example favors men, not women. Men in the same positions make more and are always favored for advancement.

Allstate is not the only one. I was at Pacific Life in Newport Beach California for 10 years.

Attractive females mysteriously dodged layoffs. Especially hyper attractive Asian females reporting to middle age white men forget about it. Suzi Lee Intern. 24 months later. Suzi Lee Associate Vice President overseeing a massive department of..... two people....

It’s truly odd to get let go After 30 years and 100% file quality in the Claim department

Isn't odd that the majority of the people that were put in the Leadership Development Program were attractive women........ and those that ended up with permanent jobs after their rotations were attractive women......... and most were put in positions over employees that had more experience and knowledge who were going for the same roles.......... I think we all know what was going on here, very clear favoritism.

I was there a fair amount of time to see it all and it's been happening longer than I was there.
