Intel is now the General Motors of the chip making world. Logic isn't growing much anymore and they can't seem to get any traction with any other product. It only goes downhill from here. 20 years from now Hillsboro will be the next Flint, Michigan. Hopefully the water doesn't get contaminated.

Check where Bob and BK lived when they were CEOs. Atherton.
And also this. https://www.eetimes.com/intel-fab-explosion-injures-7-say-reports/
Sh*t happens. Or should I say, it happened already.
To the dweeb above who says Intel is careless with chemicals and that high-level execs work and live far from the fabs. This is absolute bull****. I lived near to and worked at the fabs in Rio Rancho. Safety is number one there - always. I suggest you somehow put on a bunny suit and go see for yourself. People who know nothing should never speak. You, obviously, are clueless.
Given how Intel cheap out on blue badge salaries and IT tools, how much do you think they pay their fab construction contractors? I wouldn't be surprised that those litho chemicals don't get properly disposed of or sprung a leak somewhere. There is a reason why they built the fabs in Hillsboonies. You think the high level Intel execs and their families live out there? No, they live in Atherton, pretending to be an exec of a relevant Silicon Valley tech company.
the sheer nastiness on this board reveals some truly immature, c-ap engineers.
"20 years from now Hillsboro will be the next Flint, Michigan." absolute, total BS
You're either giving Intel too much credit or GE too little
Intel's downfall will definitely not take 20 years. Did you see the Samsung announcement yesterday? 116 billion investment in 3nm chips next year. Samsung is working to beat TSMC – Intel is not even a competitor or a threat anymore. Intel's model of vertical integration and fund all of the R&D internally has reached its end. This paradigm shift should be obvious to everyone by now, especially semiconductor industry employees. BS will announce in January 2021 what Intel's plan / strategy will be but it will undoubtedly include giving up development of some technology and purchasing chips from TSMC, GF and maybe even Samsung. Good luck to everyone.
