Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

February may not be so bad...

So here's the deal. We have CXMs leaving our store left and right. To the point of possibly not having any management layoffs come January. Our store manager, DC, is sitting pretty - seeing how the cards unfold, along with the other minions who choose to stay onboard (including me). Could we possibly be bringing back "great" managers from layoffs? The ones that were rated so low to be let go? Christmas may be rough, but hang tough... We may able to keep our jobs come February :) Mele Kaliki Maka! Surf's up! What's it like in your neck of the woods? Inquiring minds want to know!

RL and CK are still in my store. We’re continuing to receive stock. The only brand we’re exiting is NYDJ, and that’s been expected for almost a year now.

you have to keep in mind those who been there for 20 to 30 years will get a package so that cost money to get them out and hire cheaper staff.. thats if they get a package

Not just CXM's, we have so many Captains leaving that if Macy's were a Navy we would have to surrender to abandon ship. If you are not familiar, Captains are what we call all of the selling and support leaders who used to be managers and leaders, but got downgraded at the start of the year. The people do as much of the work as CXM's and OVM's and they are quitting leaving the company in droves as workload becomes unreasonable during the ramp up to Black Friday.

The other factor impacting every store is the lack of leadership at the division and regional teams, many stores are on their second or third DVP and RDOS this year. Pandemic cases are spiking and regional and district leaders are still pretending that everything is back to normal. It's sad to see whats happening in our stores. We need to stop acting like everything is normal and allow store teams to focus on driving business and executing for the holidays. Lets cut out the pointless visits and let store teams do what we do best.

HAndow do you cut $1.5B dollars out of whats left? Even unloading JG and the rest of the dodge ball team wouldn'tp put a dent in that. And we didn't get rid of RL and CK. They got rid of us...

I'm a CSX, and I agree ..the workload is k–ling us. No one happy, everyone stressed. We sort of think the company is trying to get people to quit so there's less to lay off and pay a package to. I leave and go sit in my car and cry before I can even think straight enough to drive home. I work with a great team and as bad as things are I would never leave them at this time of year because I've worked with them for years and it wouldn't be right to dump my load on them right now. It's also not a good time to try to find another job with all the uncertainty with COVID right now and I need my paycheck.

I agree with poster. Macy’s does not care about you no matter what your level is. You are just a number. If there is another shut down it’s over. The only thing is two vaccines coming out by April. Which won’t help xmas. They have to cut due to high debt Biggest debts is humans resource. Plus vendors bailing after Xmas. Hence why they now have club room polo to replace real polo from RL You can see what’s happening. Walk thru 5 Macy’s stores in your state. Write us what you see.

You will be lucky to make it to February. If they close down malls and such again, it is game over for this company.

You sound like you’ve drank a lot of Flavor Aid. There will be cuts come February I am guessing it will be the biggest layoffs since the huge cuts like in 2009-2011. Macy’s does NOT care about you. If you make more than $12 an hour you are a “target” because they can find someone willing to do it for $11. Nobody should feel safe as they can change anything at any time.

When you managers start leaving it’s because they tell management things before you find out. They already know it’s going to be a horrible time and they are trying to get out ahead of it. They knew they were about to work 6 days a week be exposed to a disease and then be dismissed in February. Good for them.

Not with 1.5 billion in cuts by 2022. It will be a blood bath. It will come to a point of no manager and just a store manager and grunts. With 3 select “ leads”. The real question is why is all your managers leaving before Xmas ? Do they know something you don’t ?
