Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

People laid off

According to someone I talked to, almost everyone laid off had mediocre to poor performance.

Is their ANY truth to this, or is it just more b**t.

Not true. 45 years and excellent reviews. Not one bad one in all those years. In fact I I know quite a few id–ts who did not get laid off.

They are letting exceptional employees go. All the employees who have worked hard and out performed their peers and earned higher raises are being let go.

Everything was decided based on a spreadsheet. They didn’t observe actual jobs or individuals. They are firing employees that are paid well and hiring new people at lower wages, restructuring jobs to lower bands, moving more work to India, etc.

It is all about saving money. They no longer care about quality of service.

Completely untrue. I have never been anything be exceeds or greater. I didn’t even get to take the assessment. I was just let go. Salary dump like someone else said. Which is very evident by the over 100 new jobs posted for much much lower salaries. And I posted for this jobs and was laughed at by hiring manager because I make too much and they would never agree to pay anywhere near what I was making.

We had an employee in our department with the last two years with inconsistent but they actually let the highest paid people who were top performers go. They kept the inconsistent employee because they were the least paid.

Completely and absolutely false. In our area far more high rated and tenured employees were laid off over less tenured low rated employees. High rated managers were also let go over newer lower rated managers.

To make matters worse the tenured higher rated employees seem to be getting overstepped by the low tenured low rated rated laid off employees in terms if hiring for similar positions retooled at lower pay bands. This whole thing for the most part is one big salary dump with major dumbing down of quality of employee while customer service and relations suffer badly in almost every aspect of the company.
