i WAS a 15yr employee with experience in Claims and Law & Regulation. More than half of the 26 experienced employees in volatile markets I personally know who’ve been informed - via script that they no longer have a role in this company - were rated better than expected consistently for years. The list consists of 2 RCLs, 9 CSLs and a combination of RCL admins & LDU/BI rapport/Litigation/CPL adjusters with the least tenured having 10yrs experience, and greatest having about 35yrs.
The assessment reviewed by a “third party company” was BS but painted as a ‘fair and effective’ way to keep ‘the best people’, and COVID19 combined with our immediate & successful transition to virtual work helped the blood s—ers in Northbrook execute the plan Shapiro set in place years ago. People & real estate are obviously the company’s greatest expenses, and he vowed to reduce costs in X years. Note to self: when some new big wig who has done this before and has made his rounds about the industry (including SF) shows up wreaking the same havoc ‘making good’ on his promise, all employees at all levels should BE WARE. Considering the list of people I’m aware of who didn’t make the cut, I’m confident tenure/salaries were considered and played a role in this long drawn out RIF. Take your BS transparency & BS assessment talking points and shove it, Big Blue.
Can’t forget:
“Sign mandatory arb agreement, or refuse & forfeit your job (dec ‘19)..... Work your a** off, especially when we cut U.S jobs to ship them overseas to clueless underpaid workers generating complaints due to lack of timelines & errors; then when pandemic hits - they can’t work remotely, so YOU assume that load too!..... By the way, we’re cutting thousands of positions company wide, not sure when or what’ll happen, but just keep working your a**** off - we have customers (b/k/a shareholders) to appease..... Oh, just so happens we decided to acquire NGHC effective 2021 (cause, you know, that doesn’t take months, maybe a year to carry out a $4B acquisition) when a good portion of you are gone so if we need help, we’ll replace the effects of ‘transformative growth’ with them and pay lower salaries (Cause who’s been at NGHC or its subsidiaries long enough to pay more than we pay you??)..... Please pay no mind our company’s value going down from about $34B to about $29B - we needed to put a down payment on ‘NatGen’ while getting a little bonus ourselves up here in IL; no worries though, we’re still trying to work out the RIF so ‘more to come!’..... Wow, we made $11mil in 3 mos - isn’t that great??..... Ffwd a few more months - you're no longer needed effective 60 days after receipt of email from HR, but thanks for your blood..... 2mos post notice - oh, still no email?just keep working like the slave you are until we’re ready to ‘officially’ cut you loose, maybe it’ll coincide with the dates of those who remain to return from their holiday PTOs (shared calendars run by workgroups, so we have control of course) - we need those last drops of blood before your departure.....“
Bitter, yes, but for good reason (in my opinion!). It’s all bulls, everything they say is a crock of s. Count your blessings to be cut loose and have the opportunity to find happiness in your personal lives; and do your research/ask a million questions before considering a job with this company or suffer the wrath. I’ve heard the word ‘transparent’ thrown around so many times by so many hypocrites enough to last me a lifetime. I’ll be better off when I finally receive that HR email; and I wish those left over all the best!
