Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

What about acquisitions??

I work at a company that Cisco announced they would acquire over a year and a half ago. Still has not closed the deal. But should I be worried? I read the articles here and it does not look like something to look forward too. Comments???

If you are in a high growth business then you likely won't have much to work about. Otherwise, come in to Cisco cash out. Start looking within 2 months of closing. They like to consolidate and eliminate after acquisition. Have your next move ready to go.

Coming into Cisco from an acquisition can work out well. If you have any RSU's at your current location, those will likely double or triple at time of acquisition. Your first year will most likely be no change and you are bound to make your quota and make some good $ if you are in a sales role that first year. After that it'll be a c-ap shoot.

I believe Cisco is obligated to keep employees from acquisitions for the first two years once the deal is struck (but I could be wrong).

You have job security for two years. Within 2-3 years Cisco will push out the high-performers and replace them with smooth talking salesmen. Eventually the culture will transform into a relationship based/used car salesmen culture.

Cisco is built on acquisitions. Ask your current company’s HR on any potential risk. I would guess it would be low right now.

Once the Cisco Borg absorb you there may be more risk long term.
