How many people have been laid off so far due to the pandemic?

Layoffs company wide this week
They outsourced the entire child care centers, which had been part of SAS since the 1980s. Would not be surprised if there are other groups who they've done the same to during Covid and no one knows about it yet. I'm sure they are looking at all non-core business groups/teams.
I dont think they are using Covid as an excuse. As others mention they try to portray the illusion that they would never have Covid layoffs.
In all liklihood those who were laid off were probably either given a different reason or no reason at all.
SAS lost a ton of people last year who left voluntarily. Hot job market, stagnant SAS, etc.
Word is they only backfilled a smallish percentage of those positions as a way to reduce labor costs.
Even though SAS does lay people off if is far less than most companies. If I was still there I would be staying put until we get through this pandemic.
Or at least with COVID-19 being used as an excuse.
